Here are the top stories today in Austin:

1) Can you believe it's officially 2023? Oh, what a year it's been in the beautiful City of Austin! Our tight-knit community made so many memories this past year: festivals, protests, winter storms, and so much more. KUT was there to capture all of the highs and the lows of 2022 – check out the publication's multimedia recap here.


2) New year, new you, new drinking hole options! A number of hospitality groups and brewing companies have announced plans for opening new bars and new breweries in and around Austin this year! The Austin American-Statesman has done the heavy lifting and compiled a list of upcoming and recent openings – take a look!


3) Austin Police Department (APD) is looking for a man suspected of robbing an older woman at a South Austin Bank of America. KVUE reports: "The male suspect was seen in a dark gray Ford Fusion with dark-tinted windows. He got out of his car at the bank and attacked an older woman, leaving her with multiple injuries before stealing a large amount of money from her." APD Detectives have leads and are actively investigating this case. Law enforcement officials report there have been roughly 140 reports of robbery and "jugging" in 2022 – neighbors, stay safe!
