2nd Pedestrian In 2 Days Struck, Killed In South Austin

The adult victim was hit by a car along the 10000 block of Menchaca the day after another person was fatally struck on Ben White Boulevard.

AUSTIN, TX — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car in South Austin overnight —

marking the second time a person has been fatally struck by a vehicle in as many days.

The incident occurred along the 10000 block of Menchaca Road at around 10:36 p.m., Austin-Travis County EMS medics said via Twitter. The person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The age and gender of the pedestrian was not revealed, but medics said the person was an adult.

The death marked the second time a pedestrian has been fatally struck by a car in two days as part of a growing and deadly trend. On Friday, another pedestrian in South Austin was hit by a car just after 7:15 p.m. along the 200 block of East Ben White Boulevard, medics wrote on Twitter. The adult victim in that incident also was pronounced dead at the scene.
