7 Austin Residents Make Forbes Richest List
Michael Dell of Round Rock tops the list of regional billionaires, with an estimated net worth of $32.3 billion.
AUSTIN, TX — Seven Austin billionaires made the latest Forbes list of richest Americans this week.
Before getting to that, a rich Texas person fun fact: The title of richest Texan goes to Walmart went to Walmart heiress Alice Walton of Fort Worth, according to the newly released Forbes 400 ranking. Her wealth is estimated at $51.4 billion and, no, that is not a typo.
Back in Austin, Michael Dell made the cut as being among the 400 richest people in the U.S. Founder, chairman and CEO of Round Rock-based Dell Technologies has a net worth of $32.3 billion, according to the publication. Overall, he's the 18th richest person in the entire nation with that considerable fortune.

The publication noted Dell's estimated net worth skyrocketed by nearly $5 billion in just one year, as his fortune lat year was placed at $27.6 billion. Other Austin residents making the rich list:
- Venture capital entrepreneur Robert Smith, $5 billion. No. 14 in Texas; tied for No. 131 in U.S.
- Vodka tycoon Bert “Tito” Beveridge, $4.2 billion. Tied for No. 18 in Texas and No. 168 in U.S.
- Paul Mitchell and Patron founder John Paul DeJoria, $3.1 billion. Tied for No. 27 in Texas, No. 275 in U.S.
- Tech entrepreneur Thai Lee, $3 billion. Tied for No. 29 in Texas, No. 287 in U.S.
- Software entrepreneur Joe Liemandt, $3 billion. Tied for No. 29 in Texas, No. 287 in U.S.
- Private equity entrepreneur Brian Sheth, $2.2 billion. Tied for No. 37 in Texas, coming in at No. 370 in U.S.
