Actor Dennis Quaid Dating UT-Austin Student 39 Years His Junior
Considerable age gap between the actor and Ph.D. candidate has raised the collective eyebrows of the UT community.

AUSTIN, TX — The University of Texas at Austin campus is abuzz amid reports that actor Dennis Quaid is dating one of their own. The eyes of Texas also have collective eyebrows raised given the pairing's considerable age difference.
According to multiple reports, Quaid, 65, is dating UT-Austin student Laura Savoie. The two have been spotted together since mid-May, and the grad student hasn't been shy in declaring love for her aging beau on Instagram. Oh, and she's 26 years old, according to reports.
Sources confirmed to People magazine that the two are dating. Savoie is said to have previously dated another actor, Jeremy Piven, while Quaid previously dated model Santa Auzina, 31, starting in around 2016 while he was in the throes of divorcing "Parent Trap" star Kimberly Buffin. That uncoupling was formalized last year.

Quaid was married to Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001 before being wed to P.J. Soles from 1978 to 1983.
But let's get back to that age gap. Quaid and his new squeeze are 39 years apart. To put it in further perspective, Quaid's girlfriend is one year younger than his son with Ryan, who's 27 years old. He also has 11-year-old twins with Buffington.

Some added perspective: The average cost of a new home when Quaid was born in 1954 was $10,250, a new car could be bought for $1,700 while the cost of a gallon of gas was 22 cents. Average monthly rent was $85, and a movie ticket was 70 cents. Dwight D. Eisenhower was president.
By 1993 when Savoie came into the world 39 years later, the average cost of a new house had risen to $113,2000, a new car cost $12, 750 with per-gallon gas prices at $1.16. The price of admission to see a movie was $4.14. Bill Clinton was president.
The year Savoie was born, three movies starring Quaid were released. In one of those movies, "Undercover Blues," he plays one half of a wise-cracking couple of spies (with his wife played by Kathleen Turner) on maternity leave in New Orleans with their baby daughter upon whom they dote. The child in that movie would today be the same age as Savoie today.
Anyway, no judgment. We're just reporting the news from Austin. Best of luck to the happy couple.
