AUSTIN, TX — Officials of I Live Here I Give Here are poised for the community-wide day of giving scheduled for next month as they prepared for a goal of raising $12 million benefiting 750 participating nonprofits.
To that end, various pop-ups and parties in support of Amplify Austin Day 2020. The eighth annual philanthropic event is scheduled begin on Thursday, March 5, from at 6 p.m. and will last until Friday, March 5, at 6 p.m.
Organizers of the giving event outlined a number of scheduled elements, yielding something of a sneak peek of Amplify Day 2020:
St. David’s Foundation, a champion of Amplify Austin Day since its inception, will again match funds up to $1.3 million for 90 nonprofit grant partners. They will now have invested a total of $8.1 Million in matching funds to support local nonprofits and inspire community members to give back local. Their major gift has also inspired several other local organizations to commit matching dollars in support of Amplify Austin Day 2020, including; Reissa Foundation, which has committed $25,000 for organizations serving children in the foster care system; Shield Ayres Foundation will match up to $10,000 for organizations serving basic needs; and Enverus has committed $25,000 to support all participating nonprofits.
Tito’s Handmade Vodka continues to be a dedicated sponsor and major supporter of Amplify Austin Day. Now through March 6 at 6pm, Tito’s will donate an additional $5 (up to $10,000) to community members’ favorite local nonprofits when they enter “#LoveTitos” at check out. In addition, Tito’s is matching $10,000 of the I Live Here I Give Here Amplify Fund, which rewards all participating nonprofits with incentive dollars. Tito’s two initiatives, totaling $20,000, will benefit approximately 750 nonprofits across Central Texas.
An anonymous funder has offered a $25,000 matching grant to be distributed among all participating Animal Care & Services organizations.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema is sponsoring “Alamo Drafthouse Golden Tickets.” Every hour of Amplify Austin Day, a lucky donor from the last hour will be randomly selected to win a "Golden Ticket" in the form of $100 to be gifted to the nonprofit of their choice during Amplify Austin Day. In addition to Golden Tickets, Alamo Drafthouse is providing a matching challenge of up to $20,000 for all participating nonprofits.
Livestrong will award a match of $10,000 to nonprofits with cancer-focused missions through their Community Solution Grant program. Cancer is the #1 cause of death in Travis County — and more Austinites than ever are living with cancer. Livestrong believes that survivors in Austin deserve more than just hope for a better tomorrow — they deserve a better today.
Locally owned Freedom Solar is sponsoring a community challenge to assist local nonprofits while creating a more sustainable environment. They have pledged a $500 donation for every homeowner who goes solar through this partnership, for a total donation of $5,000 to the ILHIGH Amplify Fund.
Several Amplify Austin Day partners and participating nonprofits will host various pop-up events in and around Austin in support of Amplify Austin Day 2020.
On Feb. 20, I Live Here I Give Here and Austin Monthly Magazine have partnered to host a happy hour launch party for the second annual I Live Here I Give Here Magazine, created in partnership with Austin Monthly. The event will take place at Lambert’s on 2nd Street from 5-7 p.m. and is open to the public (RSVP required).
Austin Public, a department of Austin Film Society, will once again host their Amplify Austin Mission Control event on March 5 from 6-10pm, where 15 small nonprofits will receive assistance from Austin Public experts in livestreaming their campaigns, from Austin Bat Refuge and Dance Another World to The New Philanthropists and Friends of McKinney Falls State Park.
The day before Amplify Austin Day, March 4, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the Round Rock Area Serving Center will host an Amplify Williamson Kick-Off Event to benefit several nonprofit organizations in Williamson County. This event is open to the public, and attendees can enjoy appetizers, drinks, and great company at Zoe's Kitchen Round Rock all while supporting their local community.
The First Tee of Greater Austin is hosting an exciting event to help raise funds on Amplify Austin Day. A youth development organization, they will host golf tournaments on February 29th and March 7th for young golfers as part of their Amplify Austin Day campaign. Each golf team will create their own peer-to-peer fundraising profile so that community members can support their game with a gift to the youth golfers and their mentors.
Additional events, including a Fun Run hosted by Marathon Kids, happy hours hosted by the Multicultural Refugee Coalition and Alzheimer’s Association, and more, will take place across the community to get Central Texans excited about giving back local. Amplify Austin is an initiative designed to increase philanthropy in Central Texas through online giving for hundreds of nonprofits during a single 24-hour period. The eighth annual Amplify Austin Day is scheduled to run from 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5 until 6 p.m. on Friday, March 6, though givers can plan ahead and make early donations now to their favorite nonprofits. Those interested in giving can find nonprofits located in specific counties or areas and also search for causes important to them by keyword and category onAmplifyATX.org.
Community members can also get involved as peer-to-peer fundraisers to advocate for a nonprofit cause they are passionate about. When visiting their chosen nonprofit’s profile at AmplifyATX.org, they can click the “Fundraise” option to set up a personal fundraising page to share with friends, family members, colleagues, and neighbors. Last year, peer-to-peer fundraising resulted in more than $1.8 million in donations to local nonprofits on Amplify Austin Day.
Local businesses are invited to join the local generosity movement by signing up their company as a fundraiser and encouraging their employees to participate by making a gift of any size to a nonprofit of their choice on Amplify Austin Day. Business fundraiser profiles are free to set up, and provide each company with a leaderboard to track employee giving and identify the causes that mean the most to their employees, as well as tools for cultivating a culture of generosity in the workplace.
Since its inception in 2013, Amplify Austin Day has raised over $57 million for Central Texas nonprofits. This year, the goal is to raise over $12 million across seven counties including Travis, Hays, Williamson, Burnet, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Blanco—which builds upon the success and tremendous community support received during last year’s 24-hour fundraising campaign. In 2019, Amplify Austin Day surpassed its goal, raising over $11.2 million in one day.
