Austin firefighters deploy to wildfires across the state (kvue.com) — Austin firefighters are fanning out across Texas to battle multiple wildfires each day, while still keeping local residents focused on preparing for their own risk. Austin, LCRA to lower Lake Austin 10 feet this fall, businesses brace for hit (cbsaustin.com) — Lake Austin will be lowered by 10 feet between Oct. 12 and Nov. 30 for maintenance and shoreline cleanup, and some local boat rental and lake-dependent businesses fear losing crucial fall income. City of Austin and LCRA officials shifted drawdowns from winter to fall after Winter Storm Uri, and affected operators plan to voice concerns at Thursday's Austin City Council meeting.

4. Austin's Street Medics Race to Beat the Heat • The Austin Chronicle (austinchronicle.com) — Street Medics Austin volunteers are stepping up to protect unhoused neighbors from brutal summer heat by handing out hundreds of free first aid and cooling kits around town. As Austin‑Travis County EMS strains under rising heat‑related calls, the group also offers free CPR, Narcan, and first aid trainings at local churches, libraries, and community centers so everyday Austinites can help in emergencies.
5. Max Fry w/ Buzz Kull & Kontravoid (do512.com) — Austin will host the LEVITATION festival September 10–13, 2026, filling Red River District and East Side venues with psych rock, punk, metal, darkwave, indie, and electronic acts.
