11-Year-Old Student Launches AI-Powered App to Revolutionize Spelling, Math, and Science Practice

Custom practice across multiple subjects for grades 3–8 with plans to expand across schools

Musa Yousaf, an 11-year-old sixth-grader at Harmony Science Academy-Leander, has launched BeeSpeller.pro, an interactive, AI-powered web application designed to help students practice and master spelling bee vocabulary, math concepts, and science fundamentals in an engaging digital environment.

The project was driven entirely by Yousaf's personal interest rather than a school assignment or contest. Seeking an automated way to practice his school spelling worksheets, Yousaf was inspired after watching a spelling bee competition to replicate the experience within a digital web application—a concept he has broadened to include math and science practice.

BeeSpeller.pro gives students complete control over their learning experience across subjects. Users can select their grade level—ranging from 3rd through 8th grade—and choose a difficulty setting of Easy, Medium, or Hard to generate AI-tailored spelling words, math problems, and science challenges. Alternatively, students can upload a photo of physical study worksheets, which the platform instantly converts into a customized practice session featuring interactive problem-solving, audio pronunciations, definition prompts, and real-time feedback.

"I built it to help kids like me practice and master spelling, math, and science in a fun, interactive way," said Yousaf. "I feel really proud of myself because it took a lot of hard work and devotion, and I really love solving real-world problems."

Yousaf developed the application using Replit, an AI-powered software creation platform, iteratively building and refining the core code. After establishing the initial spelling engine, he expanded the platform to include dedicated math and science modules alongside gamified elements such as student incentives and scoreboards.

"Musa wanted an automated way to practice his school worksheets, and that initial idea quickly grew into a desire to build a complete multi-subject platform," said his father, Muhammad Yousaf. "He saw how technology could make studying spelling, math, and science more realistic and engaging for students."

Having expanded BeeSpeller.pro beyond spelling to include math and science offerings, Yousaf is now collaborating with his sister, Maaheen Yousaf—an 8-year-old third-grader also attending Harmony Science Academy-Leander—to build out advanced features and expanded capabilities for the platform.

Future features will allow teachers to generate customized practice materials by subject, grade, and difficulty, assign practice sessions, and provide administrators with real-time progress tracking.

BeeSpeller.pro is publicly available now. Families and educators can access free registration by using the promotional code BEEFREE at https://beespeller.pro/.
