If you own a storefront in the area, you can apply for funding toward exterior improvements, but applications must be submitted by Oct. 8.

UT RecSports introduces human reformer pilates, line dancing (thedailytexan.com) β UT Austin students can now try a new human reformer pilates class at RecSports that swaps bulky machines for mats and resistance bands, making sessions more accessible and spacious. Line dancing courses are also being offered on Wednesday evenings this fall, with separate registration and pricing, giving Austin students more fun ways to stay active on campus.

Austin ICE shooting: Bond denied for man shot by ICE agent; he's now in federal criminal custody (fox7austin.com) β A man shot by an ICE agent in North Austin will remain in federal criminal custody after a judge denied bond, ruling there was probable cause he assaulted an officer and labeling him a flight risk. His attorneys say he's still in serious pain from a bullet lodged in his back and are pressing the federal government to provide surgery, as new details and APD video continue to shape public understanding of the Sept. 20 shooting.

Kennedy Jr. unveils partnership with UT Austin to shorten clinical trials (kxan.com) β Federal health leaders gathered in downtown Austin to launch SURPASS, a major effort to speed up and modernize clinical trials, with UT Austin's Dell Medical School as a key academic partner. The program aims to cut costs, use AI and real-world data more effectively, and expand research opportunities, potentially bringing more trial sites and medical innovation closer to Austin-area patients.
