Today's riddle: What has a cap but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Austin Municipal Court Streamlines Docket Schedule (austintexas.gov) — Starting October 5, Austin Municipal Court will hold all Attorney Appearance Dockets and Jury Trials on Tuesdays, changing how and when many residents handle cases. Walk-in mitigation dockets remain available Monday through Thursday and Thursday evenings at the Burleson Road courthouse, giving you flexible options to speak with a judge or prosecutor about your case.
2. ACL limited parking opens opportunities for nearby Austin businesses (kvue.com) — If you're heading to ACL in Austin, expect no parking at Zilker Park or nearby neighborhoods and look instead to paid options like Barton Springs Car Wash, Austin High School, and nearby garages. Local businesses are cashing in by offering parking and vendor space, while attendees are also encouraged to use CapMetro, shuttles, bikes, or rideshares to avoid traffic headaches.
3. Austin ICE shooting: Man shot by ICE agent undergoes surgery (fox7austin.com) — Residents should know that a man shot by an ICE agent during a Sept. 20 traffic stop in North Austin has now undergone surgery to remove a bullet from his back and remains in federal custody. Attorneys, advocates, and some congressional leaders are questioning delayed medical care, missing ICE body-camera footage, and the tactics used, while Austin police have released dashcam and bodycam video from their limited role.
4. Austin prepares for arrival of air taxis and eVTOLs (communityimpact.com) — Austin officials are actively planning for air taxis and eVTOL aircraft that could soon connect the city with Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. Local departments are studying vertiport locations, safety, noise, and power needs, while exploring potential emergency medical uses so future flights over Austin neighborhoods are as safe and well-regulated as possible.
5. Austin weather history: The hottest, coolest and wettest ACL festivals (kxan.com) — Austin music fans can look back at how wild the weather has been over past Austin City Limits festivals, from a scorching 107-degree day in 2005 to the rain-soaked 2013 washout that canceled a final day. The story breaks down typical September–October temperatures, the coolest festival days, and which weekends were drenched versus bone dry.
