Austin ISD parents raise concerns over band equipment transportation challenges (kxan.com) — Austin ISD parents say budget cuts have left high school bands scrambling to move large instruments and equipment to football games and competitions, sometimes leaving gear behind. With more than $200 million in district cuts and reduced transportation funding, principals can only fund limited game trips, pushing families and volunteers to shoulder more logistical and financial strain.
3. FAA issues ground delay at Austin airport due to low clouds and weather (fox7austin.com) — If you're flying into Austin-Bergstrom, expect significant delays as the FAA has imposed a nationwide ground delay program for incoming flights due to low clouds and ceilings. Average waits are around 66 minutes, with some stretching beyond two hours, and the restrictions are expected to last into early Monday morning while arrivals and departures use limited runways.
4. Southwest Airlines Adds 11 New and Returning Routes for Summer 2027 (aviationa2z.com) — Austin travelers can look forward to seven new or returning Southwest routes in summer 2027, including weekend flights to Costa Rica, the Bahamas, and the Dominican Republic. The survey compares AUS with major hubs like Denver and Dallas/Fort Worth, highlighting how long it can take to move between gates when you have a tight layover.
