Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) APD is searching for a suspect linked to nine violent robberies in North Austin. The Austin Police Department is looking for a man believed to be behind a series of at least nine robberies that took place between Sept. 19 and Oct. 4 on Northgate Boulevard, along the 300 to 1800 block of W. Rundberg Lane, North Plaza and Research Boulevard. The suspect is reported to have used a machete, gun, and bat during the string of robberies. APD also reports that the man has been seen testing doorknobs at various complexes in the area, along with car doors. North Austin neighbors, please remember to lock your doors and remove all valuables from your vehicles. KVUE has more on this story.

2) The University of Texas System Board of Regents announced an ambitious renovation project for the UT Tower. The 85-year-old local landmark has remained untouched since its inception, but UT President Jay Hartzel recently announced that the tower will undergo its first major renovation. Kickstarted by a $26 million investment from the UT System Board of Regents, the monumental project will restore the exterior to its original brilliance while also updating the observation deck and carillon bells. The investment will also support extensive landscaping and beautification efforts for areas such as the Main Mall and other nearby grounds. Head to CBS Austin for the full scoop on this initiative.

3) BAE Systems opens a new $150 million facility in Austin. Located at Parmer Austin Business Park, the 390,000-sq.-ft. facility will provide space for manufacturing, engineering design, lab work, and offices. The facility further includes expansion space for future growth. Aerotech News has more on BAE's recent expansion.

4) Don't have passes to ACL this weekend, or you'd prefer to enjoy the show from the comfort of your own couch? Fret not! Hulu will be the official streaming partner for the Austin City Limits festival. This weekend, Oct. 7 through Oct. 9, subscribers of the streaming service will be able to tune into the ACL anytime between 1 p.m. through 11:30 p.m. Heck YES!! Head to Spectrum News to learn how you can tune in to the festival.
