AUSTIN, TX — Art Alliance Austin officials revealed details on their upcoming ARTBASH 2019: Come As Thou Art event this weekend.

Presented by Native Hostel on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m., the 6th annual ARTBASH is an avant-garde art and fashion frenzy event, where guests are invited to ‘Come as Thou Art’ and wear art-themed outfits for the evening. Native Hostel and Art Alliance Austin invite art and fashion lovers, performers, and patrons to become the art for the evening for a unique experience of immersive engagement.

The evening is a mix of fashion, art, photography, light installations, and more. Featured artists include Gail Chovan, Daniel Nguyen, and Stephen Wilson. Chovan is a lauded apparel designer. Her designs are most often monochromatic, without the distraction of hue. Texture, form, and line take precedence in her work. She previously owned and operated beloved Blackmail Boutique and is currently pursuing her Master of Liberal Arts in Museum Studies through Harvard University.
For the last six years, Daniel Nguyen has dedicated himself to the art of photography and has had ample success in his career. He is currently a freelance photographer in Austin, Texas, with a sizable client base and network, and has recently begun the fashion photography studio FOTOHOUSE.

Conceptual artist Stephen Wilson’s street education of textile-based techniques began with a freelance career in New York's garment industry of the 90s. His métier quickly grew into a multifaceted studio art practice, with Wilson's skill in digitized-embroidery at the core of his technique. Employing embroidery, painting, 3D printing, photography, sculpture and more, Wilson's mixed-media assemblages are unique explorations of contemporary themes.

Each artist will show their fashion-themed pieces for ARTBASH: Come As Thou Art. GA tickets to the event are free with RSVP with a suggested $10 donation at the door to Art Alliance Austin. For a $500 donation to Art Alliance Austin, guests will receive a photo shoot with Fotohouse.co during the event, and an 11x17 framed print sponsored by Wexel Art Displays.

For the photo shoot experience, a notable photographer will capture the art-inspired evening wear and provide a luxury photo shoot experience at the Fotohouse studio located inside of Native Hostel. Limited VIP tickets are available for $85 and include access to Native Hostel’s Romper Room private event space, light bites, drinks, and specialty performances. Reserved group seating throughout the venue is available for up to eight guests for $800.

Proceeds from ARTBASH will support Art Alliance Austin’s new YOUTH ART INVESTMENT PROGRAM, which provides in-school curriculum exploring art and art collecting. Program participants are provided with an opportunity to apply their knowledge by perusing and purchasing artwork at Art City Austin 2020 for permanent installation at their school or a community location of their choice.
