Ascension Seton Wraps Up Summer Youth Employment Program
43 student interns gained valuable healthcare career experience at three hospitals

With back-to-school time just around the corner, students at Dell Seton Medical Center wrapped up their summer internships as part of the Travis County and City of Austin Summer Youth Employment Program.
Travis County Judge Andy Brown and Councilmember Vanessa Fuentes, along with Ascension Seton leadership, attended a luncheon with students at Dell Seton Medical Center to celebrate the program.
Ascension Seton, in conjunction with Travis County, has provided paid internship opportunities for 43 students at Dell Seton Medical Center as well as Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin and Dell Children’s Medical Center. These students have served as support roles in many of Ascension Seton’s departments for 20 hours a week throughout the summer. Through this opportunity they are exposed to many different healthcare careers.

These students are all attending Del Valle ISD, Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders (AISD) and Akins High School (AISD) and are currently enrolled in a Health Care Track through their Career Tech Education Programming.
Ascension Texas has a robust workforce development program and is especially focused on recruiting and retaining nurses through residency and fellowship programs, nurse scholarship program and partnerships with more than 40 schools of nursing, as well as community partnerships that support our region’s growing healthcare needs.
