Ascension Texas names new leader at Ascension Medical Center Austin

Anthony Meador named Vice President and COO of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin

Ascension Texas has announced Anthony Meador, MBA, MSS, FACHE as the new Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin. In his role, Anthony will be responsible for overall operational efficiency and financial stewardship of the hospital, including oversight of Surgical and Emergency Services.

“Anthony is a highly motivated healthcare executive with extensive experience delivering exceptional performance in complex and dynamic healthcare organizations,” said Wesley Tidwell, President of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin. “He has a proven record of effective operations management and development of strategic plans for multiple healthcare facilities and practices. We are thrilled to welcome him to Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin.”

In his prior role, Anthony served as the Vice President of Operations for MedStar Harbor Hospital in Baltimore City. Originally from Virginia, Anthony brings 27 years of military experience as an Army Medical Service Corps Officer with his last assignment on active duty as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief of Staff for Walter Reed Military Medical Center. His previous executive roles include Chief Executive for the Fox Army Health Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and Deputy COO, Walter Reed Medical Center.

Additionally, Anthony has led and provided oversight to numerous capital infrastructure projects up to $850M in facility investment. Anthony earned a BA in Economics and Business from the Virginia Military Institute followed by a MBA from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Strategic Studies (MSS) from the US Army War College.

He is involved in numerous professional organizations such as the American College of Healthcare Executives, the Baltimore Alliance for Careers in Healthcare, the Project Management Institute, Military Officers Association of America, and the Scouts BSA. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and traveling.
