AUSTIN, TX — Celebrate Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month at your local library by learning how to make origami, enjoy dance performances, make Japanese Kawaii crafts and more throughout May.

Here are some of the planned events:

  • Monday Movies: Crazy Rich Asians will be screened on Monday, May 6, at 5 p.m. at the Willie Mae Kirk Branch. Suitable for adults and teens.
  • Japanese Kawaii Art on display Monday, May 6, at 6:30 p.m. at the Central Library - Children's Area (3rd floor). Suitable for all ages.
  • Celebrating with crafts and history on Tuesday, May 7, at 6:30 p.m., Milwood Branch. All ages welcome.
  • Asian Food Crafts, Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m., St. John Branch. Adults.
  • Origami classes on Friday, May 10, at 2 p.m., Cepeda Branch. Adults.
  • Asian Horror Film Series: Horror in Korean, Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m., Ruiz Branch. Suitable for adult audiences.
  • Japanese Kawaii Art, Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. at the Cepeda Branch. All ages.
  • Saturday Matinee: Lilo & Stitch, Saturday, May 11, at 1:30 p.m., Willie Mae Kirk Branch for teens and adults.
  • Making Bell Totas on Monday, May 13, at 3 p.m., Little Walnut Creek Branch. All ages.
  • Monday Movies: Don't Think I've Forgotten on Monday, May 13, 5 p.m., Willie Mae Kirk Branch, for adults and teens.
  • Making Bell Totas, Wednesday, May 15, at 3 p.m., Ruiz Branch. All ages.
  • Anu Naimpally performance on Thursday, May 16, 7 p.m. at the Central Library - Demonstration Area (1st floor). All ages welcome.
  • Japanese Kawaii Art on Friday, May 17, at 3 p.m., Little Walnut Creek Branch. All ages welcome.
  • Adult Asian Horror Film Series: Horror in Chinese/Mandarin/Cantonese on Friday, May 17, 6 p.m. at the Ruiz Branch. Suitable for adult audiences.
  • Saturday Matinee: Moana to be screened on Saturday, May 18, at 1:30 p.m. in the Willie Mae Kirk Branch. Suitable for adults and teens.
  • Eat the World Cooking Demonstration of Sri Lankan Food on Saturday, May 18, at 2 p.m., Howson Branch. All ages welcome.
  • Making Bell Totas on Monday, May 20, at 3 p.m., Southeast Branch. All ages welcome.
  • Monday Movies: In the Matter of Cha Jung Hee, Monday, May 20, at 5 p.m., Willie Mae Kirk Branch. Suitable for adults and teens.
  • Mandalas, Thursday, May 23, at 6 p.m., Southeast Branch. All ages welcome.
