1) Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month! This month, we recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success.

We're grateful to live in a community shaped by the contributions, traditions, history, and layers of Hispanic Texans. Head to KVUE to learn more about the National Hispanic Heritage events scheduled for the next few weeks.

2) Woman dies after being shot at northeast Austin apartment. APD reports that officers responded within six minutes of receiving the call to find a woman in her 30s shot inside an apartment near Berkman and Reagan Hills drives. Austin EMS took her to the hospital, and shortly after arriving, she was pronounced dead. KXAN has more on this developing story.

3) Gov. Greg Abbott sent two buses of migrants from the Texas border to Vice President Kamala Harris' D.C. residence. Yesterday morning, roughly 101 migrants (mostly from Venezuela) arrived outside of the Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. where Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff reside.

Gov. Abbott's decision was allegedly in response to VP Harris' comments on NBC's "Meet the Press" in which she called the border "secure." KUT has more on this story here.

4) New roadway improvements are underway in Southeast Austin. FOX 7 Austin reports that the project is along E. Stassney Lane between Teri and Burleson roads and is funded through the voter-approved 2018 Bond. The street is expected to go under a full reconstruction in order to "create a safer, smoother commute for residents."

Head to FOX 7 Austin to learn more about expected lane closures, sidewalk closures, and impacts on the CapMetro route.

5) #HookEm News: Saturday night brings a long-awaited match between UTSA and UT-Austin. The two University of Texas affiliates will clash for the first time at the Darrell K.
