More Rain Forecast For The Austin Area

There's a 90 percent chance of rain forecast through Wednesday, with rainfall amounts of up to half-an-inch possible.

AUSTIN, TX — Don't put away those umbrellas just yet. Partly sunny skies on Tuesday will usher in showers after midnight, with precipitation something of a foregone conclusion at 90 percent probability.

The National Weather Service says showers are expected by late night with a low of around 44 degrees. New precipitation amounts, forecasters added, could possibly be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch.

Those high chances of rain continue into Wednesday, with the chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm being forecast at 90 percent. The high temperature is expected to climb to 56 degrees with winds of up to 10 miles per hour from the east/southeast. New rainfall amounts are predicted to possibly be between a quarter and half inch.

After that, the rain chances start to drop. By Wednesday night, the chance of precipitation drops to 60 percent as forecasters predict likely showers and thunderstorm before midnight. The day will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature of 49 degrees. East/southeast winds will be negligible at around 5 miles per hour, becoming calm in the evening.

Then, the sun mercifully returns. Thursday calls for mostly sunny conditions with a high near 65 degrees. Winds will be gentle from the north/northwest between 5 miles per hour to 10 miles per hour. Similarly, Thursday night calls for mostly clear conditions with a low near 41 degrees. North/northwest winds will reach up to 10 miles per hour.

Friday will be sunny with a high near 63 degrees, according to forecasters. Winds will be barely perceptible at 5 miles per hour blowing in from the south/southeast in the afternoon. Temperatures will drop nearly 20 degrees by nightfall with a low of around 41 degrees by Friday night under mostly clear conditions. Southeast wind of around 5 miles per hour will become even calmer, according to the forecast.
