Austin-Area Mother-Daughter Look-Alikes (Happy Mother's Day!)

For Mother's Day, we asked readers in the Austin area to share their best mother-daughter look-alike photos. The similarities were uncanny.

AUSTIN, TX A daughter is a mother's best friend, it's been said. In some cases, a daughter is also her mother's doppelganger as photos submitted to Patch would attest.

We asked mothers and daughters to send us photos of themselves. The results were both touching and uncanny, the former given the palpable love depicted and the latter for....well just judge for yourself.

Abby Edelmon of North Austin sent us this photo of her and mom Tammy. "We're basically twins," she wrote in an email.

"My crazy, beautiful mama just texted me that her friend's daughter entered a mother daughter look alike contest, she wants me to enter her and I," Abby explained in an email to Patch. "That's not something I'd generally do, but it's my mama, so I looked up the contest she sent me. It's in Minnesota, lol. I Googled if there's one in Austin and saw your article asking for pics to be featured in a story."

That's all it took for Abby to come around, and she sent the photo above as proof of maternal similarity. A God-fearing woman who works as a daycare director, Tammy has imparted words of wisdom to her daughter throughout her life, including the daughter's favorite bit of motherly advice: "If you're pretty, you can wear cheap makeup. And always order your margaritas on the rocks they're stronger that way."

But seriously, folks. Abby adds that her mother has "the most beautiful singing voice" and made a career driven by her love for children. "She's inspiring and all-around perfect, and I love her," she added.

Jen Henderson of Round Rock sent along a picture of her and daughter Faith. Clearly a Texas Tech fan (she's young, so we'll let that slide), Faith is most definitely Jen's mini-me. Wouldn't you say so?

Princess Mosely of Austin sent this photo of her and daughter Precious Mosely (right) she refers to as her twin.

A little bit off the beaten path came a mother/daughter photo from Conroe, Texas, taken at the Montgomery County Fair in April of 2017. "I am truly blessed to have you, little one," Racheal Jones wrote in the cutline. "I would be lost without you." One is blonde, the other brunette, but the similarity in the faces is undeniable.

Dara McDonald of Leander sent this lovely tableau below of her and daughter McKenzie McDonald.

For good measure, McDonald sent a second photo illustrating three generations of look-alikes:

From Austin, Erica A. Deary (left) sent this photo with her mom Johnnie Mae Deary-McDonald:

Jennifer Sehon of Cedar Park sent this playful snapshot of her and daughter is Emily Sehon. Comically large glasses, bunny ears and nose aside, the resemblance is undeniable.

"Best of Friends!" read the descriptor for a photo sent of Liz DeLaTorre and Kimberly Huerta from Pflugerville. The picture was snapped Sept. 1, 2017. Maybe it's just us, but they look like sisters!

As Mother's Day neared its end just past 11 p.m. on Sunday came a late entry into the Austin Patch email not from the immediate region, but who are we to deny a mother on her day? Thank you to mom Cheryl Leago, pictured here with daughter Caryian Haines, at a Mother's Day dinner on Sunday.

Better late than never, Cheryl. Gladly received.

A heartfelt thank you to all the moms and daughters who sent in photos. For the rest of you: It's not too late! Send your photos before or on Mother's Day on Sunday, May 13, in so we can include them in the montage! If you do, provide both full name and your city. There's still time! Send photos to antonio.cantu@patch.com.

And again: HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
