AUSTIN, TX — Austin is the best city in Texas to celebrate Christmas. That's according to a new study that analyzed the nation's largest cities in assessing the best places for holiday celebrations.

Researchers at WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities across 33 metrics to achieve its rankings, placing research currency on such dynamics as Christmas events per capita, average ticket price for holiday celebrations and the abundance of shopping centers and outlet malls.

Given that reckoning, the capital city emerged in the top spot across the Lone Star State. Researchers presented their findings under five categories: Traditions and Fun, Holiday Observance, Costs, Generosity and Shopping.

The top lace for Christmas? Yes, Virginia, that would be Atlanta in the top spot. The worst place to celebrate Christmas is cellar-dweller Hialeah, Florida, according to the report.

Yet it's clear that in Texas there's no place like Austin for the holidays. For the holidays, you can't beat home sweet home.
