Austin Community College 'Casting Call' Set For Tuesday, April 9

Students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of ACC invited to offer testimonials that could be used as part of school's media campaign.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Are you ready for your closeup, Austin Community College community members? School officials invite students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the school to share their ACC story during a city-wide casting call on Tuesday.

The casting call is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9, at ACC Highland, Building 4000 at 6101 Highland Campus Dr.

“ACC is part of the fabric of Central Texas," Brette Lea, ACC vice president of Communications & Marketing, observed. "Our story is a culmination of the hundreds of thousands of students who have walked through our campuses and taken classes here. It’s inspiring to hear about their journeys. We learn that everyone’s path is unique, and that no matter your goal — ACC is for everyone.”

The casting call includes a 15-minute videotaped interview with a small panel of college representatives. Participants will share their favorite memories of the college and explain what ACC means to them. They also may be selected for additional future photo and video shoots to be featured on billboards, in commercials, and online.

  • “I believe Austin Community college was critical to my success in life,” said ACC graduate Diana Barron. “Obtaining a college degree changed the course of my life from one of poverty & despair to success & contentment. The starting point for this change was Austin Community College.”
  • “This is my second go around at college,” said Jason Juliette, nursing student. “When we graduate from Austin Community college we are comfortable in the hospital setting, we are comfortable speaking to patients, taking care of patients and I think that is one of the things that sets us apart.”
  • “I wanted to go to college and be prosecutor. I have a long road of school ahead of me and I wanted to do it the most financially savvy decision,” said Saskia Alston, criminal justice student. “I have a step already going into law school, there are a lot of opportunities I have gotten through ACC.”
