Austin Community College Events From Dec. 2-8, 2019

From a student art sale to a community conversation on the Pinnacle campus, many activities are planned in the coming days.

AUSTIN, TX — Austin Community College is hosting a series of community events from Dec. 2 through December 8.

Events include:

  • Community Conversations on the future of the Pinnacle Campus: ACC explores what the future could hold on the Pinnacle Campus in Southwest Austin. The college will share information about the district-wide Campus Master Planning process and invite the community to share ideas and provide feedback. There are 46 acres of current green space at Pinnacle that are designated for future college development. For more information, visit austincc.edu/pinnaclenextsteps. Two Community Conversations are planned at Oak Hill United Methodist Church (7815 U.S. 290), across from the Pinnacle Campus.

    • Tuesday, Dec. 3 | 6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
  • Save thousands while pursuing a Texas A&M Engineering Degree at ACC: Sign-up now to learn more about the Texas A&M-Chevron Engineering Academy at ACC during an information session 10 a.m to noon, Saturday, December 7, at ACC Highland Campus, Building 1000 (6101 Highland Campus Dr.). Texas A&M and ACC representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the co-enrollment program. Supported by Chevron, the Academy allows students to earn an A&M Engineering degree for a fraction of the cost by starting at ACC. Students who are admitted are guaranteed admission to Texas A&M University School of Engineering in College Station and can transition as early as their sophomore year.   • ACC Board of Trustees: The ACC Board of Trustees hosts its regular board meeting 3 p.m., Monday, December 2, at the Highland Business Center, Room 201 (5930 Middle Fiskville Rd.). The meeting is open to the community and is available live via webstream.
  • Building Bridges |Helping those directly impacted by the criminal justice system: ACC’s Office of Community Engagement invites students, staff, faculty, and the community to the monthly Building Bridges Event: "If Success Is Free, What Could It Look Like?" The event will be held 1:30 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at Millennium Youth Complex (156 Hargrave St.). ACC joins Students With A Purpose to discuss resources for those impacted by the criminal justice system, including overcoming re-entry obstacles, dressing for success, and connecting with employers.
  • Support student success through Giving Tuesday donation: ACC Foundation is collecting donations on Tuesday, Dec. 3, for Giving Tuesday. All donations will support the Student Emergency Fund which provides immediate financial assistance to students who are faced with financial emergencies during the semester such as unexpected medical expenses, loss of housing, and car repairs. Over the last 13 years, $215,000 has been distributed through the Student Emergency Fund to hundreds of students. For more information, visit austincc.edu/foundation.
  • Knock out your holiday shopping early with Student Art Sale: ACC invites students, faculty, staff, and the community to the Student Art Sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at ACC Highland Campus, Building 1000 (6101 Highland Campus Dr.). Items include artwork, jewelry, and pottery made by ACC students. This event is free and open to the public.
