AUSTIN, TX — Austin Community College invites students, alumni, employees and the community to wear their Riverbats gear or Go Purple on Wednesday.

Why? Because Nov. 20 is ACC Riverbat Day. The day commemorates the 9th birthday of ACC’s official mascot — R.B. the Riverbat — and celebrates the community’s commitment to student and community success, officials said in a press advisory.

“R.B. unifies ACC. He is the only character on campus who can swing by a classroom and put smiles on faces to help make everyone feel welcome," Dr. Richard Rhodes, ACC president/CEO, said in a prepared statement. "By serving as the symbol of ACC’s values and mission, R.B. is building a college-going culture. ACC remains dedicated to providing pathways to higher education for everyone. By putting on our purple, we are honoring the excellence, pride, and determination of our ACC students and celebrating their success.”
