Austin Companies Among Inc. Magazine's 'Best Places To Work'
From Abilitie to The Zebra, nine local firms land on fourth annual list of exceptional workplaces as determined by myriad metrics.
AUSTIN, TX — Several Austin companies made Inc. magazine's made the list of "The 346 Best Places to Work in 2019" published Friday, an annual compilation of firms the publication views as ideal work environments.
"A record number of companies clamored for recognition in our fourth annual Best Workplaces survey," Inc. magazine analysts wrote. "In a tight labor market, these businesses are out to nab top-performing employees by making life on the job ever more rewarding."
Companies making the list can be searched by state, industry, company size, and benefits —including generous parental leave, onsite medical and fitness, pet-friendly policies, tuition reimbursement, and more.

All told, eight Austin companies made the national list:
- Abilitie, 201 W 5th St., specializing in the offering of leadership simulation presentations to Fortune 500 companies.
- Allpro Hospitality Staffing, 2025 E 7th St #107, a provider of top professionals in the hospitality industry for company grand openings, established businesses, events or local hot spots.
- Arrive Logistics, 4407 Monterey Oaks Blvd #150, a freight brokerage concern.
- Ink Communications, 2717 S. Lamar Blvd., Suite 1087, a marketing communications firm specializing in the tech industry.
- OJO Labs, 720 Brazos St. #110, which provides tailored conversational assistants for those embarked on residential real estate transactions.
- Praetorian Group, 98 San Jacinto Blvd., Suite 500, cybersecurity experts.
- ScaleFactor, 1408 E. 13th St., a provider of bookkeeping services.
- The Zebra, an insurance comparison site.
Statewide, 49 Texas-based companies made the list, each categorized as micro, small, medium, large or extra large in terms of the size of their employee base. In the latter category, Arrive Logistics — with 500-plus employees — made the cut. At the other end of the spectrum is Abilitie, listed as a microfirm with 10-24 workers.

Employees from nearly 2,000 companies of all sizes and industries were surveyed with research conducted by Omaha’s Quantum Workplace. Topics that were part of the surveying mix included trust, management effectiveness, perks, and confidence in the future. Inc. gathered, analyzed and audited the data. Once gathered, the data then determined ranking with use of a composite score of survey results.
This year, Inc. magazine reported, 74.2 percent of surveyed employees are engaged by their work — besting last year’s 72.1 percent.
