"AFF's Awards Luncheon has always allowed attendees the opportunity to rub elbows with their storytelling heroes and peers."
This week, AFF officials cast a spotlight on Eric Haywood, 2013 AMC One Hour Teleplay Pilot Competition Winner and 2016 Screenwriter to Watch, who spoke about his humble expectations towards his festival entry, and his feelings throughout the competition. "He also confirms what we all know: everybody loves Vince Gilligan," officials wrote. "Since then, Eric has gone on to write for popular television series such as Empire and Power. We are excited to see where his storytelling journey will take him next!"
View this post on InstagramIn 2013, Eric Haywood won the AMC One Hour Teleplay Pilot competition at AFF with his screenplay 'Liberators.' He humbly accepted this award at our annual Awards Luncheon with a great speech that both entertained and moved the crowd. Hailing from the distant land of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Eric started out as a music video director while attending school at @uwmilwaukee. Afterwards, he relocated to Atlanta, where he went on to direct and produce videos featuring artists such as #Usher #Outkast #IceT #Tupac and #bootsycollins. From there, Eric turned his focus to writing and moved to LA, where he landed work writing for shows like #PrivatePractice #SoulFood and #Hawaii. Eric was one of our #screenwriterstowatch in 2016 and has since written for shows like #Empire and #Power. Eric is truly a #storytelling force, and we are excited to see where he'll continue to go along his storytelling journey. P.S., there's a short cameo in this video by #AFF26 panelist and former AFF Script Competitions Director Matt Dy. . . . #screenwriting #filmmaking #storytellingjourney #writersofinstagram
