Austin Man Drowns While Tubing Along San Marcos River
Ryan Hyman, 26, tried retrieving an errant tube in the crowded waterway before struggling in the water and submerging, officials said.
SAN MARCOS, TX — An Austin man who went missing during a San Marcos tubing trip in San Marcos, Texas, was found dead, according to officials.
A Texas Parks & Wildlife game warden told KENS-TV that Ryan Hyman, 26, was tubing with a group of friends on Saturday, June 15, when he swam toward an errant tube that belonged to someone in his party. Hyman than began to struggle in the water before disappearing in the water, according to the report.
The Austin American-Statesman reported that two people tried rescuing Hyman while he struggled in the water but they were unable to reach him after he became submerged. His body was found Sunday morning near a tubing outfitter stand located between San Marcos and Martindale, according toe the report.
