Austin Parks Grilling Ban Lifted
With the arrival of cooler temperatures and recent rainfall, carnivores are once again allowed to fire up grills to cook their meats.

AUSTIN, TX — Commence grilling! Given lowered temperatures and recent rainfall, parks officials this week lifted burning restrictions at area parks.
Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) officials alerted to the weather-induced reprieve from restrictions on the municipal portal. But just because outdoors-loving residents can now grill their meats with wild abandon doesn't mean guidelines don't exist, as officials added: "Austin is still in drought conditions, so it’s especially important to use provided grills and fire rings or a gas stove."
The ban was lifted on Thursday, Nov. 14.

"PARD is committed to protecting the city's parks and surrounding communities and will be re-evaluating the wildfire risk on an ongoing basis and will advise the public if circumstances change," officials wrote.
Scorching summer heat exacerbated by lack of substantive rainfall yielded tinderbox-like conditions across the landscape, prompting officials to ban outdoor burning — including the time-honored grilling ritual that is so quintessentially Texan. Now, nature-loving carnivores can return to their grilling penchant without the fear of fines.
