Austin Police Getting Ballistic Vests In Light Of Shootings Of Law Enforcement Officials Nationwide
958 vests were distributed Monday during a presentation hosted by interim police chief Brian Manley.

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Police Department, in partnership with the Austin Police Association, was scheduled to distribute ballistic vests to officer on Monday.
A presentation was scheduled at 12:30 p.m. at Austin Police Department downtown headquarters, 715 8th St., during with interim Police Chief Brian Manley was expected to make some remarks.
"With the increasing number of law enforcement officers being killed in the line of duty nationwide, APD purchased the heavier vests to help keep officers safe," police said in a prepared statement.
