Austin Police ID Driver Killed In 2-Vehicle Wreck
The incident just before 5:20 a.m. along the 5200 block of South FM 973 left a driver of a Ford 150 dead at the scene.
AUSTIN, TX — Police on Tuesday identified the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash off FM 973 early Sunday.
The incident occurred just before 5:20 a.m. along the 5200 block of South FM 973, according to a police report. Police said the driver of a red, 2017 Dodge RAM was traveling soutbound when he suddenly crossed the center lane before striking an oncoming tan, 2001 Ford F150.
Police said the driver of the F150, Harrison Beard Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not indicate whether any charges against the other driver — who was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries — would be filed.

The incident marks the 23rd crash of 2020, police said, resulting in 24 fatalities this year. At this time in 2019, police added, there were 14 traffic fatalities.
