Austin Police Nab Suspect Wanted For 5 Recent Bank Robberies

AUSTIN, TX — Police on Thursday identified the suspect wanted in a string of bank robberies throughout Austin who is now in custody.

In a press advisory, police detailed the latest bank heist that occurred on Friday, Oct. 25, just after 2:10 p.m. at the Horizon Bank branch, 600 Congress Ave. Police subsequently arrested Peter Bunting, 42, saying he also is responsible for four other bank robberies in the area.

Bunting is said to have entered the bank lobby on Friday before demanding money and then fleeing the scene on foot with an undetermined amount of cash. Officers subsequently saturated the area, and were able to apprehend the suspect at a bus stop near Republic Square in downtown Austin.

Police said no injuries were reported in the Friday robbery.
