Man Dead Of Self-Inflicted Gunshot At Lakeway Church (Updated)
Police encountered a man in mental distress at Emmaus Catholic Parish on Lohmans Crossing Road who would later fatally shoot himself.

LAKEWAY, TX — A man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at a church outside Austin early Friday afternoon, officials said.
A city spokesman told Patch the Lakeway Police Department just after the noon hour initially responded to a report of an unidentified man in the throes of mental distress at the Emmaus Catholic Parish, 1718 Lohmans Crossing Road, in Lakeway, Texas. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a suicidal man who later fatally shot himself in the church parking lot, according to city spokesman Devin Monk. Austin-Travis County EMS medics described the man as being in his 40s.
The spokesman noted there is no lingering threat to the public, and the scene is currently being investigated.

Lakeway is a city in Travis County with about 12,000 residents, located next to Lake Travis. The city is some 22 miles northwest of Austin.
