Austin Police Seek Criminal Mischief Suspect
Incident at East 7th and Brazos streets just after 9 a.m. culminated in scooter being smashed through window; governor shares on Twitter.
AUSTIN, TX — Police seek a suspect in a criminal mischief case filmed by a resident to gain viral status on social media after the governor shared it.
The incident dates to Wednesday, Oct. 9, at East 7th and Brazos streets just after 9 a.m. Police said a motorist was driving his vehicle north in the 600 block of Brazos St. when the suspect crossed in front of his vehicle against the light so the victim was forced to stop.
Police said the victim honked his horn, at which time the suspect approached his vehicle and began punching the hood and yelling obscenities. According to the police narrative, the victim reversed the vehicle to move out of the flow of traffic and got out of his car. At that point, the suspect began to fight with the victim.

The victim pinned down the suspect before letting the suspect let him go, after which the suspect picked up an electric scooter and threw it through his back windshield before fleeing eastbound on 7th. Police responded and searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect. The suspect, pictured below, is described as a white male estimated to be somewhere in his late 20s or early 30s who was last seen wearing a bright blue shirt, black pants and black shoes.He is described as having dirty clothes and a foul odor.
