Austin Restaurant's Funniest Marquees Compiled In Book
Marquee of popular Mexican food restaurant at 1624 W 5th St. often features laugh-out-loud observations on life.

AUSTIN, TX — Call it a sign of the times. Just in time for the holidays comes a quintessentially Austin stocking stuffer: A book compiling some of the funniest signs from the El Arroyo Mexican food restaurant.
For the uninitiated, the diner's staff has long made a habit of putting funny sayings on its marquee to elicit laughter from patrons and passersby alike. Heavy on puns and other wordplay, the observations yield a much-needed laugh on even the dreariest of days. Often, they offer brutal appraisals of the human condition.
An official at the restaurant located at 1624 W 5th St. tells Patch the book features the funniest 160 signs from the last couple of years. They're selling for $24.99 and delivering for Christmas for orders placed Dec. 3.
