Austin Teen Killed After Tractor Rear-Ends Vehicle
Unidentified 19-year-old driver pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by Peterbilt vehicle on Monday.
AUSTIN, TX — Police said a teenage driver was killed this week after his vehicle was hit from behind by a tractor.
The incident occurred on Monday, Sept. 30, just before noon along the 7400 block of South Interstate 35 southbound. A preliminary police investigation revealed that a 2007, white Ford Mustang was stopped in the center lane of the road before being struck by a Peterbilt tractor truck — killing the 19-year-old driver of the car at the scene.
Police noted the driver of the tractor truck remained on the scene awaiting for emergency responders, and no charges are expected to be filed. Police did not release the name of driver as they normally do with such press advisories.

The incident marked Austin’s 63rd fatal traffic crash of 2019, resulting in 65 fatalities this year. At this time in 2018, police said, there were 52 fatal traffic crashes and 53 traffic fatalities.
