Austin Traffic Alert: U.S. 183 Main Lanes Closed This Weekend
Southbound lanes and frontage road to be blocked beginning Friday, Aug. 2, to accommodate large beam installation.
AUSTIN, TX — The Texas Department of Transportation will have a full closure of the southbound U.S. 183 main lanes and frontage road this weekend, in order to set large steel beams for a new southbound I-35 to southbound U.S. 183 flyover, officials said this week.
Beginning Friday, Aug. 2, at 9 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 5 at 5 a.m., the southbound U.S. 183 main lanes and frontage road will be closed at I-35. TxDOT recommends drivers use U.S. 290 East to avoid the closure.

Southbound U.S. 183 traffic will exit at via the southbound I-35 flyover, then take the U.S. 290 East flyover and exit at US 183 to access southbound U.S. 183.
Frontage road detours

- Southbound U.S. 183 frontage road traffic will turn right at the southbound I-35 frontage road and take US 290 East to the exit for U.S. 183.
- Southbound U.S. 183 traffic planning to go northbound on I-35 will turn right on the southbound I-35 frontage road and take the turnaround at U.S. 290 East to access the northbound I-35 entrance ramp, south of St. Johns Avenue.
