Austin Venues Offer Easter Brunches, Activities Galore

Easter Sunday falls on April 1 this year, and family-friendly events to gather abound.

AUSTIN, TX — Easter Sunday, an important religious Christian holiday that yields an opportunity for families to gather, is on April 1 this year. In Austin and the surrounding area, there are many places offering special Easter brunches and related activities serving as focal point for gatherings.

Located in North Austin, Andiamo Ristorante has scheduled a special Easter-inspired wine dinner featuring authentic dishes from Italy on March 27 at 7 p.m. Guests will enjoy wine + food pairings including prosciutto and asparagus served with Soave, lasagne bolognese paired with Primitivo, lamb stew paired with Ripasso di Valpolicella and Zeppole di San Giuseppe (typical Easterfritters filled with Italian custard) paired with Sangue di Giuda. Tickets are are $70 per person and reservations are required.

BALLOONS OVER HORSESHOE BAY RESORT

The picturesque Hill Country west of Austin is the ideal setting for this event staged on the grounds of the seven-acre resort as 20 hot air balloons from across the U.S. ascend into the sky as attendees enjoy live music, food and more fun-filled activities for the entire family. This year's Saturday evening headliner is Austin's own Jack Ingram, a country music artist. The event makes its annual return for Easter weekend, from March 30 to April 1. HILL COUNTRY GALLERIA

The Hill Country Galleria has staged family-friendly events all through the month of March, with two more chances to have the kids take their photo wih the Easter Bunny: March 30 from noon to 8 p.m. and March 31 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is the first time ever the Hill Country Galleria has hosted the Easter Bunny for family photos. They take place across from the Central Plaza, next to The Walking Company. A professional photographer will be on site and photo packages will be available for purchase. However, officials add, visits with the Easter Bunny are free. Hill Country Galleria will be closed Easter Sunday, although some selecte stores will remain open. On Easter Sunday, Hotel Ella will be featuring a special buffet of holiday classics including pork shoulder ham, whipped potatoes and roasted baby carrots from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. A small petting zoo by Tiny Tails to You will also be open to kids of all ages from noon to 2 p.m. on the front lawn. Located on the shores of Lady Bird Lake in downtown Austin, the Hyatt Regency will offer an Easter brunch for local residents and hotel guests, featuring an expansive buffet of decadent breakfast dishes, entrées, sides and desserts. “We are excited to host the Easter brunch buffet to provide delicious dining options for the holiday,” said Reese Hay, executive chef at Hyatt Regency Austin. “Our culinary team has created a decadent menu featuring everything from smoked prime rib and an Easter ham, to house-made pastries, salads, and a wide variety of dessert options.”

The Easter brunch will feature a variety of breakfast dishes including omelets, brisket hash, cinnamon brioche French toast, pecan-smoked bacon, as well as house-made baked goods including pastries, artisan breads, and cheddar jalapeño biscuits.

Guests can enjoy delicious salads including the grilled vegetable salad with mizuna and shaved pecorino or a baby kale salad with roasted apples, candied, pecans, herbed goat cheese and raspberry vinaigrette, among other options. The brunch entrées will include smoked prime rib with roasted onion pan jus and horse radish
thyme crema, an Easter ham with house-made mustard and fresh apple sauce, as well as Arctic
char with a béarnaise vinaigrette. The buffet will be complemented with a wide variety of side dishes including smoked cauliflower mash, white cheddar poblano macaroni and cheese, sweet potato casserole, and a variety of desserts ranging from carrot cupcakes and lemon bars to strawberry shortcake trifle, egg bon bons, and more.

Feel like a nice little drive on Easter Sunday with the family? Located 28 miles northwest of Austin (about a 30-minute drive), the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa will stage its Easter family experience for local residents and guests with a brunch buffet, Easter egg hunts, Easter Bunny-delivered gift baskets and more.

“Here at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines, we strive to provide unforgettable holiday memories for our guests,” said Brianna Guzman, marketing manager at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa. “This Easter, not only will the resort feature a decadent holiday brunch, but also a fun-filled day of holiday-themed activities for all members of the family to enjoy.”

Guests staying at Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa on Saturday, March 31, will have the opportunity to arrange for the Easter bunny to deliver a special holiday gift basket to their guestroom on the morning of April 1. The gift baskets are $35 each and include a stuffed animal, Easter-themed toys, candy, and bubbles. The resort’s Easter brunch will be available between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It will feature a myriad of dining options including breakfast favorites and a made-to-order omelet station, fresh seafood such as gulf oysters and smoked salmon, as well as entrées featuring smoked prime rib and herb-stuffed lamb with gremolata. The buffet brunch will also provide a chocolate fountain, as well as a variety of chef-prepared desserts including vanilla bean cupcakes, carrot cheesecake, fresh berry tart, vegan German chocolate cake, and more.

The holiday brunch is $68 for adults, $34 for children between the ages of 6 years old and 12 years old and is complimentary for guests ages 5 years old and younger. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (512) 308-4950.

Following the brunch, families will be able to take part in Easter egg hunts through the resort’s Hummingbird Garden. The event will also include photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny, and children will have the opportunity meet and interact with baby chicks in the resort’s Pecan Court.

Juniper will be bringing back its popular brunch with an all-day menu of favorite dishes on Easter Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The menu includes brunch pastries such as Bomnolini with milk jam, mascarpone, and lemon ash, and Kolache with strawberry, ricotta and pistachio; a selection of cicchetti, classic salads like the Little Lettuces and Warm Winter Greens, and plates offering a mix of items from Juniper’s former brunch menu and current dinner offerings, featuring their Sunday-only Lasagna, Pappardelle with oxtail ragu, Brunch Gnocchi with egg, mushroom and broccoli, Smoked Fish & Toast with mascarpone, boiled egg and capers, and more.
