Austin Pet Owners: did you know there's an environmentally friendly way to dispose of your pet poop? Each year in America dogs generate over 11 million tons of poop, much of which ends in local landfills and waterways. That's a lot of poop. Fortunately, there's a locally owned business that will take your poop and recycle it into fertilizer and soil enhancement for gardens and landscaping. Visit Pet Agree Waste Removal to learn more. Give them a call — they'll literally pick up your pet's poop.

Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) ATX welcomes the much-needed rain! As the rain continues throughout Central Texas, the weather service warned that excessive runoff and heavy rainfall could lead to the flooding of rivers, creeks, and low water crossings around town. Be careful out on the roads! FOX 7 Austin has more on what to expect from the weather forecast this week.

2) Austin police are searching for a missing man last seen in southeast Austin. APD is asking for the community's assistance in locating a 69-year-old man that has been missing since Saturday, Aug. 20. Ted Fisher was last seen at the 9600 block of Bear Paw Trail in southeast Austin around 1:15 p.m., police said. Fisher is described as a Black man, 6-feet-1-inch tall, 155 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

Due to Fisher's health conditions, there are concerns for his immediate welfare. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately. Learn more here at KVUE.

3) 🦇 Looking to finally catch the infamous Congress Avenue Bridge bats? This month is your chance! Thrillist reports this is the best month to hang with the city's famous nocturnal citizens — they even have their own music festival!

For those new to the area: Austin is home to one of the most famous urban bat colonies in the world. Come sunset, the 500,000 to 1.5 million Mexican and Brazilian free-tailed bats hanging upside down in the concrete wings begin to emerge for their nightly insect foraging, swirling in the air in one of the coolest urban wildlife spectacles humans can witness. Learn more on how you can catch the bats here at Thrillist.

4) Public schools receive 'In God We Trust' poster donations as new Texas law requires its display. FOX 7 Austin reports that a new law requiring Texas schools to display donated "In God We Trust" posters is the latest move by Republican lawmakers to bring Christianity into taxpayer-funded institutions. Under the law, Senate Bill 797, which passed during last year's legislative session, schools are required to display the posters if they are donated. FOX 7 Austin has more on the community reception of this legislation here.
