Bicyclist Dies After Collision With Car: Austin Medics (Updated)

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Police on Friday identified the bicyclist who was critically injured and later died after a collision with a car the previous day.

Jessica Saathoff, 28, passed away after sustaining what medics described as critical, life-threatening injuries on Thursday. The collision occurred along the 1300 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just after 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Saathoff was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center for treatment, but police on Friday afternoon said she had succumbed to her injuries.

It's unclear if the driver in the incident faces charges in connection to the fatal collision. Police offered no further details, but said a news conference will be staged next week to provide more information. Patch will update when more details are known.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — A woman who was on a bicycle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a vehicle Thursday night.

The incident occurred along the 1300 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard just after 9 p.m. Austin-Travis County EMS medics reported a woman bicyclist suffered critical, life-threatening injuries as a a result of the collision.

The woman was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center with injuries described as "critical, life-threatening" ones. Neither the woman's age nor any other information was made available.
