Black Food Week Showcases Minority-Owned Austin Restaurants

AUSTIN, TX — Black Food Week kicks off on Monday, showcasing both new and long-standing black-owned restaurants in Austin.

Organized by Austin Justice Coalition, the event running from July 22 to Aug. 3 aims to introduce residents to black-owned eateries that have emerged as culinary pillars in the community. "We hope that the community not only finds these restaurants as enjoyable dining experience, but also an educational tool that prompts supporting locally owned minority businesses," AJC officials wrote in an emailed press advisory.

Residents can partake in Black Food Week in two ways. The first is simply patronizing showcased restaurants listed by AJC. Another way is to partake in planned "Eat and Greet" social hours. "We hope you join us for a week that is sure to satisfy both your taste buds and your soul," AJC officials wrote.
