The Christi Center’s annual Heart Connections fundraiser brings the community together for an afternoon of remembrance, connection and support for those who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This year’s event will feature personal stories from members of the community whose lives have been impacted by loss, including a conversation highlighting the realities of overdose loss, the Loss to Overdose group and advocacy efforts to support grieving families and address the impact of overdose in the community. Speakers will include Gavin Wright, who recently went through the trial related to his son’s overdose death, where the individual accused of selling him fentanyl-laced pills was charged with murder. Drew Hecht will also share his family’s experience following the loss of his wife to alcoholism and his son’s participation in the Christi Center’s Camp Zebra. Attendees will also hear more about the Christi Center and its mission to provide free grief support to individuals and families for as long as they need it.
Nabil Remadna, KXAN weekend anchor and reporter, will serve as the event’s MC. Additional speakers and program details will be announced.
All proceeds from Heart Connections support the Christi Center’s ability to provide grief services at no cost to those who have lost a loved one.
