Here are the top stories today in Austin:
1) Police shared photos of a "person of interest" linked to the scene of the attempted kidnapping of a UT student on Oct. 30, near the 2700 block of Nueces Street. Police need the community's help with identification. Head over to KXAN to review the photo.
2) Election news: Five of nine seats on the Austin ISD Board of Trustees are up for reelection, with only two incumbents seeking reelection. KUT has the rundown on each of the candidates – check it out.
3) Noticed recent delays with the Capital Metro bus schedule? KUT reports: "The regional transit agency says a shortage of bus parts is keeping a small percentage of vehicles off the road each day." Broken air conditioning systems and purchase order lead times for bus parts both contributed to the reduction of CapMetro's fleet this week. "On a typical weekday, CapMetro needs 345 buses out of its fleet of 425 on the roads in the morning. On Tuesday, the agency started the day 19 buses short." Head over to KUT for more on this story.
4) A start-up plans to build homes in the Austin area in less than 60 days. The Carrollton-based company, Onx, is planning to expand its homebuilding operation to the greater Austin area. How do they allegedly build homes in less than 60 days? "The homes are built off-site ... and then delivered to the job site once completed. Once at the site, the pieces are put together to form the house" (it sounds so easy!). The CEO reportedly wants to get that build time down to less than 30 days. KVUE has the full scoop on Onx's expansion.
