Cartoon Network Coming To Austin For Second Consecutive SXSW Showing

The network plans a day-long event featuring premiers of favorite show and family-friendly events on March 13.

AUSTIN, TX — Animation fans, both young and old, prepare to have your minds blown: For the second consecutive year, the Cartoon Network returns to SXSW this year featuring screenings of all-new episodes and more from favorite shows on Monday.

Screenings will include episodes of We Bare Bears, The Amazing World of Gumball and Teen Titans Go! SXSW badge holders and the Austin community as a whole are invited to attend this event billed as "high-energy" where they will also see the U.S. premiere of the new Ben 10, premiering April 10, and a first look at the recently announced series OK K.O! Let's Be Heroes.

The event will feature a variety of kid-friendly activities, including Cartoon Network trivia, costume characters appearances by Ken Tennyson, the star of Ben 10, and Gumball and Darwin from The Amazing World of Gumball. There also is a dance contest scheduled and exclusive giveaways outdoors on the Long Center Terrace. The voice of Beast Boy (Greg Cipes) from the hit series Teen Titans Go! will serve as the emcee and will award prizes to the winners, organizers said.

Earlier in the day, Cartoon Network will start its SXSW festivities with a panel featuring Christina Miller, president and general manager for Turner’s Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang, and members of the recently announced STEAM advisory board on the power of creativity and technology to shape the next generation of innovators.

SXSW badge holders are also invited to visit the Choose ATL House to experience the updated Powerpuff Yourself avatar maker that launched last year ahead of the premiere of the Emmy-nominated The Powerpuff Girls.

MONDAY, MARCH 13

CREATIVITY AND CODING: INSPIRING FUTURE INNOVATORS

When: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Where: JW Marriott Salon E (110 E. 2nd Street)

This panel will look at coding as a means to unlock creativity and innovative thinking that can be applied to all aspects of life. By engaging users at the intersection of creativity and technology, the panelists will address how platforms like Scratch and Minecraft, and leading youth brands like Cartoon Network, are tapping into this generation’s inherent desire to shape their world - both digital and physical – in unique and powerful ways, with lasting benefit to them as individuals and the digital landscape overall. POWERPUFF YOURSELF AND CHOOSE ATL

When: 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Where: Choose ATL House located at Maggie Mae’s (323. E. 6th Street)

SXSW attendees can visit the Choose ATL House to see why Atlanta, home to Turner’s Cartoon Network, is the new digital hotspot. While at the Choose ATL House, fans of The Powerpuff Girls can experience the new Powerpuff Yourself avatar maker and learn their Powfactor or the special ingredient inside everyone that empowers them to change the world. The original Powerpuff Yourself debuted last April during the premiere of the reimagined The Powerpuff Girls. NEW, NEW, NEW, NEW SCREENING AND FAN CELEBRATION EVENT

When: 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Where: Long Center for the Performing Arts (701 W Riverside Drive)

Join Cartoon Network for all-new content from The Amazing World of Gumball, We Bare Bears, Teen Titans Go! and Ben 10. New adventures abound in the global phenomenon, Ben 10, set to make its U.S. premiere on April 10. Fans will also get a first look at the recently announced OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes, a new action-packed comedy that follows the heroic feats of K.O., an endlessly optimistic boy attempting to level up to be the best he can be in a dynamic universe of heroes, friends and challenging foes.OK K.O.!
