Chik-Fil-A Offering Free Food On 'Cow Appreciation Day' July 10
As in the past 13 years, customers showing up with some sort of cow-themed garb get a free entree item. But hurry as offer ends at 7 p.m.

AUSTIN, TX — In observance of its annual "Cow Appreciation Day," the Chik-fil-A fast food chain is giving away free food today until 7 p.m.
It's udderly true. For the 13th year, the popular fried chicken sandwich chain will offer free entrees to customers stopping by Chik-fil-A locations — including the ten Austin locations — up to 7 p.m. on July 10.

But there's a catch: In order to secure free food, customers have to show up wearing cow-themed attire. While this may mooooove some to action in hoofing it to their nearest Chik-fil-A, others might head to other pastures for sustenance.

The unofficial holiday (you won't find Hallmark cards for this one) dovetails nicely into the chain's "Eat Mor Chikin" marketing campaign featuring bovine spokescows pleading for people to consume poultry rather than them.
If you'd like to snag free food, don't be cowed into terror at the prospect of having to dress like a bovine. You don't have to go full cow on this, as any cow-like element will suffice in earning a free menu item. A cow-print bandanna would suffice, for instance. Or you could fashion a rudimentary cow mask from a paper plate. Or you could draw cow-like spots on a white T-shirt.

Or you could exclaim "cowabunga!" and go full bovine. It's up to you how simple or elaborate you want to go. Whatever creative trail you decide to take, you won't need any moolah to get free food. But hurry: The promotion ends at 7 p.m.
There are 10 or so Chik-fil-A eateries in Austin and surrounding areas, including locations at 503 W. Martin Luther King Blvd.; 2201 Speedway at the UT-Austin Student Activities Center; and at Barton Creek Square, 2901 S. Capital of Texas Highway.

For those bereft of ideas for cow costumes, we found some helpful videos to transform yourself into a cow-like being in no time:
For good measure, we've included a video of a guy releasing his excited cows into the pasture for the first time that year, just because we found it interesting and it is "Cow Appreciation Day" after all. It's also quite mesmooooorizing to watch.
