Here are the top stories in Austin today:

1) Local health officials are concerned about capacity at Austin's children's hospitals. The surge in respiratory viruses has left pediatric hospitals across Central Texas and the state at capacity. Staff members are sometimes struggling to find enough beds for children who need to be admitted. The Statesman has more details on when to take your symptomatic children to the emergency room and how to prepare your family for flu season – check it out.

2) The Austin Police Department is investigating a suspicious death after a shooting in Northeast Austin on Friday night. KVUE reports: "Witnesses told officers they saw blood spots in and around an apartment complex and had seen a vehicle leave the scene, with someone in the car possibly shooting out of the window." Reports showed a man in his late 20s had been dropped off at a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after. The incident happened near the 6000 block of Ed Bluestein Boulevard, near Highway 183 and Loyola Lane. Head to KVUE to learn more about this developing story.

3) "Money, money, money MO-NEY." The Formula 1 U.S. Grand Prix continues to pump millions of dollars into Austin's economy. KVUE reports: "In 2021, visitors to the race spent over $400 million in direct spending and nearly $200 million indirectly." This year's event is on track to have record-breaking attendance. Maybe the Grand Prix really is on the way to becoming the largest sports and entertainment event in the world! KVUE's got the scoop – check it out.
