Chris Wheeler Appointed to Ascension Texas Hospital Board

Ascension Texas recently appointed Chris Wheeler, Austin Market President of Susser Bank, to the Ascension Texas Hospital Board.

Chris joined Susser Bank in March of 2022 as Austin Market President. With 35 years of banking experience, Chris leads a team whose clients range from small to large businesses, medical practices, law firms, title companies, hoteliers, large corporate clients and private equity groups.

Chris began his banking career in McAllen, Texas, with McAllen State Bank, one of the largest independent banks in South Texas at the time. He then took a position with Bank One in Sherman, Texas, to manage their consumer and business banking group for several years. After that he transferred with Bank One to Austin in 1992 to manage several different loan origination and underwriting divisions for Central and South Texas.

Chris served in the U.S. Marines for several years after attending high school in Moore, Okla. After his tour in the Marines, he attended Sam Houston State University where he received his BBA Degree in Management and Economics.

Chris is married and has four children. He is a board member of the March of Dimes and previously served as the Board Chair and is a member of the local Quality/Patient Safety Committee for the Seton Ascension Hospital Network for Central Texas.
