City Aquatic Division to Train Lifeguards During Spring Break
Here's how candidates can apply.

The Aquatic Division of the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department is preparing for the upcoming swim season this Spring Break from March 15-21.
During this time, according to a Tuesday press release, the division is going to be hiring hundreds of lifeguards starting at $22.05 per hour.
Lifeguard certification training is ongoing and the division hosts a series of opportunities during the week of Spring Break. Because there are 34 city pools, the aquatics team needs to hire hundreds of lifeguards before schools are let out for the summer.

After getting hired, lifeguards complete the free StarGuard Elite certification class. The certification or Lifeguard Renewal class must be completed before the hiring process can be completed.
All lifeguards must complete the application and hiring paperwork before registering for a class. Certification is only valid at City of Austin Pools.
Once all that is complete, lifeguards will be scheduled for their first in-service training class. All lifeguards must attend a monthly in-service class to focus on skill-building, training, and development.
