Citywide Learn To Ride Event Scheduled In Austin
Kids needing to learn how to ride a bicycle are invited to attend upcoming free event with their parents in South Austin.
AUSTIN, TX — So you want to learn to ride a bike, eh? Then the Citywide Learn to Rideevent this Saturday is for you!
The free July 20 event is scheduled to take place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dittmar Recreation Center, 1009 W. Dittmar Rd. The event will feature Bikestart classes from 10 a.m. to noon, a parent clinic from 10:15 to 11 a.m., bring-your-own-bike safety checks from mechanics, healthful snacks and bicycle swag. All ages are welcome to come to learn to ride a bicycle, but will be broken up into age groups:
- 10 a.m. to noon: Kindergarten through 2nd grade.
- 10 a.m. to noon: 3rd grade through 5th grade.
- Middle school to adults are asked to reach out to to organizers in advance.
A clinic is also offered for parents of minors who attend so they will best be able to support their new bicycle rider. Pre-registration is requested in order to get a head count on the group size as class sizes are limited.
