Cold Front Continues In Austin, With Chance Of Rain

The low on Monday is expected to dip to a nippy 41 degrees and rain is possible this week before sunny days emerge in the coming days.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — The cold front that arrived this weekend in Austin is expected to continue through the early part of the week, with a low temperature Monday night expected to dip to around 40 degrees.

Monday calls for a 20 percent chance of showers before 1 p.m. under mostly cloudy skies. The day is expected to gradually turn sunny, with a high near 62 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Stronger-than-usual winds felt on Sunday have dissipated, with northeast winds of around 5 miles per hour blowing on Monday.

By nightfall on Monday, the low temperature is predicted to dip to 41 degrees with negligible winds.

But don't fret: Tuesday will be considerably warmer. The day will be sunny with a high of 72 degrees. South/southeast winds will blow between 5 to 10 miles per hour. Tuesday night's low will be around 50 degrees, with similar winds.

A chance of showers returns on Wednesday, with thunderstorms possible after 1 p.m. The day is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 72. South/southwest winds will be around 5 to 15 miles per hour, with the chance of precipitation at 30 percent.

The chances of rain increase to 50 percent by Wednesday night, when the day will be mostly cloudy and the low temperature will dip to 64 degrees. Winds could reach up to 15 miles per hour.

As we near the weekend, the days will become more spring-like. Thursday calls for partly sunny skies with a high near 85 degrees. Thursday night's low will be around 61 degrees with winds decreased to 5 miles per hour.

Sunny times are predicted for Friday, with a high near 84 degrees. Negligible winds will be arriving from the north/northeast. And Friday night brings with it a 30 percent chances of showers and thunderstorms under mostly cloudy skies. The low temperature will register at around 65 degrees.
