- A new "CORE by Regency DRT" office was recently opened up in Austin by "Regency DRT, a nationally recognized disaster response and emergency services company," in partnership with CORE. Regency Disaster Response Team was founded in 1991 and is "one of the most respected and successful disaster response providers in the United States," while "CORE's Branded Membership offers exceptional property restoration contractors that have met the organization's rigorous credentialing standards, the ability to be part of a premier service offering." - Austin Parks and Recreation will hold a ribbon cutting for Eilers Neighborhood Park from 9-10 a.m. on Friday, May 6 at 401 Deep Eddy Ave. The event will be held outdoors, so individuals are asked to "please dress comfortably." Among the new park amenities are a "swing set, slide and a climbing play element," as well as "picnic tables, benches, and new vibrant landscape to provide a more enhanced park setting." There are also art features including a "sculptural element called 'Abundance' by artists Ryah Christensen and Sun McColgin" and "mosaic covered objects nestled into the natural habitat" of the park that "capture the creative power of nature and wild spirit that has drawn people here for generations." - A second Rosen's Bagel Co. location opened on Saturday, April 23 in Republic Square Park, at the former Salt & Time Cafe location at 422 West Fifth St. "In addition to "classic bagels, schmears, lox, and egg sandwiches," the venue serves "new items like a roast beef sandwich on a bagel or a Cobb salad with everything bagel-seasoned avocado" and "Salt & Time chorizo, bacon, and ham" breakfast sandwiches. They also serve "coffee drinks from Tiny House Coffee Roasters as well as draft beer, wine, mimosas, and frozen drinks." - On Monday, April 25, the Austin Film Festival & Writers Conference (AFF) announced the launch of the Uplifting Storytellers Initiative and the inaugural Blackmagic Collective Emerging Filmmakers Fellowship Award. The new "initiative is designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the entertainment industry by defining and executing skill-based, as well as career-focused enrichment programs through the bevy of AFF's competitions, Conference, and more." In addition, they "announced a vaunted Advisory Committee which will provide reinforcement to the initiative's goals and direction as needed," as part of the initiative.
