Coronavirus: Wilco Illness Count Passes 300, 9th Death Reported
Williamson County and Cities Health District officials said a woman in her 90s was the latest resident to succumb to the illness.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — A ninth fatality from the new coronavirus was reported in Williamson County as the total illness count surpassed 300 on Thursday, health officials said.
The resident who succumbed to the respiratory illness was a woman in her 90s, according to Williamson County and Cities Health District officials. No further information was revealed about the patient per provisions outlined to ensure patient privacy.
The development marks the third day in a row that deaths from the new coronavirus scourge have been reported. On Tuesday, health officials reported two more deaths followed by an eighth death reported the following day. According to the most recent data, the illness count in Williamson County reached 301 — eight more cases since the prior day.

"It is with a heavy heart that we report on the news of another Williamson County resident passing due to the coronavirus," Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell said in a prepared statement. "We send our support to the family who lost their loved one, and anyone else who is dealing with the impacts of this deadly disease. Right now, we need to do our part to keep ourselves and our families safe by following the guidelines that help reduce the spread of COVID-19.”

A data-rich dashboard created by the Williamson County and Cities Health District had not been updated as of 1 p.m., and officials announced the death via a press release. The dashboard typically is updated a noon each day. Patch will periodically check the portal to secure the latest figures in terms of illness count throughout Williamson County.
In the county press release, officials noted 175 people have recovered from the ailment while 10 remain hsoptialized and two are on ventilators.
Those exhibiting symptoms of respiratory illness — including cough, fever and shortness of breath — are urged to contact their health care providers. However, health officials stress the importance of calling ahead before arriving at a clinic, urgent care or emergency department to avoid potential illness spread.
