Coronavirus: Travis County Count 1,464, 42 Deaths
The number of new coronavirus cases in Travis County grew by 52 in the past 24 hours, Austin Public Health officials reported Monday.
AUSTIN, TX — The number of new coronavirus cases in Travis County grew by 52 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 1,464. Also on Monday, the number of fatalities grew by six to 42
The upgraded numbers were tallied by Austin Public Health on a dashboard that is updated daily.
The heightened level of illnesss and fatalities was recorded on the same day that Gov. Greg Abbott announced plans to open some businesses — chiefly restaurants, retail stores, movie theaters and malls by May 1 under controlled capacity.

Contingent on whether the illness trend is seen as decreasing after the initial openings, plans call for the reopening of bars, hair salons and gyms by mid-May, Gov. Greg Abbott added.
